2010 Workshops Arranged by Track…
Movie Premiere: “Homeschooled?” – to be shown Friday, 10 a.m.-noon, and Saturday evening, 7-9 p.m. after the conclusion of the convention.
“Home-Schooled?” The very title ignites questions that beg to be answered. This is a must see film which will rebirth your history, ignite your passion for it, and alert you to the dangers of omitting or forgetting it. You will be changed for having seen it. The Hayes family is changed for having traversed this road. But can one voicereally make a difference? That’s a question you must answer.
The setting is future America, where apathy runs amuck, conformity is the norm, the culture dictates the nation, and America is numb to any right or wrong. Yet there are those who know things are not right. The Hayes family seeks God in their daily lives, and is a stark contrast to mainstream America. When homeschooling becomes illegal, the Hayes family rises to face the opposition as they fight for their rights. They remind America of the tyranny that our forefathers fled, and raise awareness of the steps that brought about America’s forgetfulness. This one family cares; but will anyone join them? Or will their voice drown in the pool of self-indulgence? You’ll feel their pain and you’ll feel their passion. You’ll find yourself wanting to remember, and regain, in order to retain our freedoms.
“Home-Schooled?” is a movie that is preventive in nature. We pray that it replaces the apathetic voice with one that is ready to face the hard issues of a culture that comes with a self-indulgent nation. We pray that it will ignite a passion for what is right; that it replenishes the roots of our Godly heritage; and that we’ll find that our country still does trust in God.

- Foundations of Discipline [WORKSHOP #5 – SAT. 10:00]
By Kathie Morrissey
The most delicate step in capturing or losing the heart of our children is the area of discipline. Training our children is like coaching them in life. We're pushing them to become better and to prepare them for all God has for them. But balance is important. If we push too hard there is injury; if we are too harsh it kills the desire to excel. Too lenient? We then let them get away with being mediocre instead of excellent, developing bad habits or ungodly character traits-- allowing them to settle for less than God’s best for them. Kathie will give several thoughts regarding discipline that is balanced, and based on true love for the child.
